    Hi,

I'm building a center channel to match up with my L/R altec 416 woofer and 806a/811 horns.

I have a 806/811 16ohm horn ready to go, and have bought a pair of JBL 123A (12") 8 ohm to serve as the LF in the box. Plan to xo at 800, with L pad on the horn.

Any suggestions, am I way off base here??

    ( I just could'nt locate any 414s or equelivant)

My mains are 16 ohms, I can wire the JBLs series to equal 16 ohms, however I think their sensitivity is only about 90 or 93 SPL (not sure about that)- so if they are low on SPL perhaps I should leave them at 8 ohms? In any case i will use an L pad on the horn as I did on the mains.

The amp can of course also adjust individual speaker levels to balance output, so I think it will be ok.

    Any advise??

Here is a cool Altec center but it would be pricey to build

Hmmm...that's kind of a strange mix...

If you're planning on running the 123s in series for a 16 ohm XO, perhaps a sealed, horizontal MTM with a fairly high cutoff...?

Are your mains 8 or 16 ohms?
